The First Missed Christmas & Emma's Concert

The webkinz purse and tutu that I made for my niece Aaliyah - sounds like they went over well!

Today was the McGifford Family Christmas back in Imperial - and here we are - in Ottawa.  So, I guess the season begins of missing family events and hanging out, but at least everyone has internet and it isn't the world that it once was.  So, here is me, a little bit sad, because all my family is at home together and I'm not.  I called and hearing my new baby nephew, Riley, crying on the phone wasn't even annoying, but rather almost heartbreaking because I haven't met that little boy yet.  But, by the time he meets me he'll know that I'm definitely the best aunt of them all and to come to me for anything - hehehe!  Sorry Auntie Charlene!!!

Emma's the one standing up before singing - yep - way to dark in there!!!

Braden and I took the kids to Emma's choir concert on Thursday night where she sang "Winter Wonderland".  She, of course, was adorable and sounded great - although I can't truly say that I could pick her voice up from the back of the gym, but I know my daughter and there really isn't any other way for her to sing (yep - I'm the proud mom!)  If you want to see a snippet of the concert (bad lighting, taping and all) just click here or look in the side panel at the youtube.com videos.  That girl is going to be a singing like her daddy!!!

School Holiday Celebrations

This morning Kaleb had his Senior Kindergarten Holiday Celebration.  The class started with some really cute jokes . . .

Kaleb "What do you get when you meet a snowman and a polar bear?"
  Parents "What?"
  Kaleb "A Brrr-Grrrr"

Then they sang "We Wish You a Happy Holiday" (yep, they're taking Christmas out of everything - can't even wish us a Merry Christmas anymore - sigh) and then they did a French play.  Not knowing French I really didn't know what was going on (hehehe!) but it was quite good and the expressions on the kids faces were priceless.  Check out my youtube videos on the side of the blog and you'll see 2 of his solo parts - yep - he was good! (or click here or here)

Kaleb is in the middle-ish, bending down behind the boy in the black sweater with white stripes

Last night Emma had her school concert, but due to our work both Brade and I weren't able to go (yep - did we feel bad!).  A friend's mom came and picked her up, watched her at the school, videoed the concert for us and then brought her home.  The good thing about it all (if there is a good thing) is that tonight she has a Choir Concert that I will be there for, and hopefully Brade will be able to make it too!  So, stay tuned for a few pics of our little girl elf . . .

Happy 3rd Birthday Navia!!!

We woke up this morning to a little girl, already dressed in a "special" dress, standing beside the bed saying "i awake, i'm wearing my special dress, it's my birthday i need to eat my cake".  She was adorable, but not adorable enough for us to ignore the time - so we swept her up into our bed and hung out for a while longer, until it was time to actually wake up.  Daddy had to go to work early today and we knew that he'd be home after bedtime so we decided to open the present before he took off.  She had a blast opening up the gifts and was soooo excited as she opened each one.  The cutest was when she opened up the singing barbie - she gasped and then started singing and dancing around with it - you just had to be there!!!

These are the gifts (pet shop purse and club house) that Grampa & Gramma Bailey got Navia - just thought you'd want to see what you got her - we pick up gifts for various family members because we live so far away - hehehe!

We have a tradition in our house that the day of your birthday I make a cake that the kids decorate and then for your party I will decorate another one.  So, today it was their turn . . . and I was out of eggs and scratch-mixes!!!  Thank goodness I remember a phenominal recipe of my Gramma McGifford's (Wacky Cake) and it didn't need eggs.  Yep - it was as good as I remembered it!!!  If you haven't ever tried it you need to - so chocolately, so moist, so yummy!!!

So, today was a good day for Navia - just hanging around playing with her family and eating cake - yep, a good day!

Oh, and this is a picture of one of the advent pocket activities - a sleepover in mom and dad's room with popcorn (yep, itchy) and watching a movie "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".  The kids loved it and so did Daddy!!!

Canada Post Picture

Well - today I was on the Canada Post site trying to figure out when the parcels headed to SK should leave and came across this . . . click here to see or go here to see all of it.  These were taken when we first moved here so it was cool coming across them now - and boy has Navia grown!!!

Oh, by the way, parcels should be mailed way before a procrasinator thinks they should - I just might be in TROUBLE!!!  Yikes!  Thank goodness our families know the true meaning of Christmas!!! LOL!
