For Christmas Braden and I decided that we were going to get a camera, but not a new point and shoot - a real camera . . . and after way too much research I decided that I wanted to get into the Nikon family . . . so meet our newest baby . . . no diapers, no crying and it does only what you ask it to!
It's a Nikon D90 and I LOVE it, but I still don't know what to tell it to do, so I'm going to have to take a class to figure it out. I've really been wanting to get away from automatic photography and learn how to do things manually and so I'm really looking forward to it. Braden might even take the class with me - which would be really cool!!!!
So we brought it home yesterday and last night and today I've been fiddling around, in automatic mode, with it just to see what it can do - and I thought I'd share a few of my shots with you . . .
First off - this morning we looked outside and this is what we saw across the street . . .
SNOW!!!! Yay . . . it's come back!!!
I'm trying to figure out the focusing and kinda like the way you can pin-point one little spot to focus on and the rest will be softer - I like!
Shingles from the barbie house - yep - Braden glued on each one - one at a time!
I was seeing what the focus would look like from the rear to middle to front and of course the kids were my 'models'.
Navia
Kaleb
Emma
With this camera you can do some photo enhancements right on the camera, so Emma was my example . . .
My regular, but beautiful Emma
My Emma with a sparkle in her eye
My Emma with a HUGE sparkle in her eye - she thought these shots were really cool.
My three kids pretending to want to fight me (focused on Kaleb's hand)
Same picture, but I 'fish-eyed' it - they LOVE it!
I wanted to see how close to a subject I could get and poor Braden was trying to watch the USA vs Canada game (just in case you missed it - we won - of course!!!)
Yep - I'm a lucky girl being married to such an amazing and hot guy!!!
And then he kinda decided that I was disturbing the game (oh, and the flash might have been a tad bit bright over and over again - hehehe!)
I wanted to see what a self-picture would be like - auto-focusing and using the lens that we had on the camera (18-105mm VR)
This afternoon Navia wanted to fool around and have me take pictures of her, which of course I had fun doing!
Will someone please wash that window!!! (the skating rink is in the background)
Having fun focusing on various spots
This is my sister's MIL's recipe of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies - yum yum!!! Thanks Charlene!
Navia resting (inbetween cookies and singing)
Oops, she slipped!!! I love this picture! The writing on the paper is the theme song for Sunshine 1 - she was reading off of it all afternoon while she was singing . . . and of course it will play at her wedding!!! it was adorable!!!
Watch out . . . chocolate chip cookie mouth Navia is coming to get you!!!
I'm having fun focusing on one part of the frame and having another part in a softer focus - I focused on Navia and her barbie is a bit fuzzier.
Oh, and I found the PERFECT camera bag/purse. I'm going to carry around a purse anyways, so might as well have a cute one that can also carry my camera without me having to carry two around. The only draw back, well, Braden definitely will not want to share it with me!!! The bag is from a company called JoTotes and they look amazing!
