We woke up on Day 5 so very, very early!!! We needed to get ready, drive to the Magic Kingdom, take a tram from the parking lot to the ferry and then take the ferry over to the Park. And we had to do all of this before 8:50am as that was the start time of the first show of the day - the Welcome to the Magic Kingdom, by the Mayor himself! It was really cute watching an old steam train pull up with all the characters on board and then they start singing the song "Good morning, good morning. It's great to stay up late. Good morning, good morning to you, and you and you and you." It gets stuck in your head and you have no other choice than to enter the park in a great mood!
Our first ride of the day was Dumbo, who had just re-opened the day before, so we had great timing! Navia loved it and the other kids, well, it was a ride - hehehe!
Then it was onto Goofy's Barnstormer, another just re-opened ride. The kids were able to just walk onto this one - no line at all!!! This was a roller coaster for those in your company who don't like roller coasters. It was a gentle ride, but the kids still had fun on it!
We kept a pretty good pace as the park was kinda full and we wanted to follow our touring plans so that we didn't end up having to stand in line for long times, so we headed to the Carousel for everyone's favourite traditional ride.
After our relaxing ride it was time to have some silly . . . and dizzy ride. The Mad Tea Party - you know, those crazy spinning tea cups . . . and the kids had just as much fun on them as I did back when my parents took me there!
As we were walking we noticed that there was a sword stuck in a stone . . . and each of the kids (big and little) took there turn to try and get the sword out of the stone. Not one of us were able to budge that sword so we just assumed that it didn't move for anyone . . . that was until we walked by another family trying it and well, sorry Brade, but they actually we able to lift it almost all the way out . . . hmmm . . . there had to have been a trick!!!
We did a few more rides, like Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh and a couple others. It was getting hotter and hotter so we thought it was the perfect time to head to Splash Mountain and get soaking wet! It was another ride that I watched from the side lines, but everyone seemed to love it!
I know this isn't a great picture, but it does show a closer look at what my gorgeous family looked like as they felt they were free-falling into a river of water - so funny!
After this it was lunch time and we thought that instead of finding a place to sit in the shade (which there really didn't seem to be much of it at Magic Kingdom) we decided to take the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and have a steam engine train take us all around the park (20 minutes) while we ate on it. It was a perfect idea!!!
The kids loved Daddy's beef jerky - okay, so we ALL did!!!
We then journeyed on the raft over to Tom Saywer's Island for the kids to play on everything that it had to offer. They tried to make Daddy fall off the rope bridge into the water, but give them a couple of years and they just might succeed!
Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse
We decided that we need to go to Aloha Isle and each order a Dole Whip that we've heard so much about from other Disney goes. There was such a long line, but after trying one you know why!!! They are pineapple ice cream and pineapple ice cream floats - so very very yummy!!!
While we were hanging out we would see various places that kids were holding playing at display windows when suddenly the window would change into a screen with a movie of some sort playing. We couldn't figure it out so I went up to one of the participants and found out that it was a new 'Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom' interactive game. You are an apprentice Sorcerer on a mission to stop the Villians in the Majic Kingdom from stealing one of the four shattered pieces of Merlin's powerful crystal ball. This is done by checking in at each of the 20 Mystic Portal. The Portals are built into existing structures and each show a video that gives you the clue to the next one. We had fun with it and decided to spend the last little bit of our day going from Portal to Portal trying to beat the Villians.
We decided that because we were going to come back here the next day we didn't do any parades or fireworks, but actually left the Park early so that we could do supper at an Orlando restaurant and then spend the night swimming at the pool - again! The kids love this aspect of our vacation home and it was nice to have that option each night.
So it was an early night but the next day . . . well . . . it's going to be our second day at the Magic Kingdome and a very late, late night!!! Beware there will be quite a few pictures coming :)
